The Print Networks conference series, formerly the British Book Trade History Seminar Series was founded by the late Professor Peter Isaac (Newcastle), an engineer by trade, but with a passion for exploring the history of the provincial book trade in Britain. His intention was to highlight the neglected area of the history of those who plied their trade outside of London.
Professor Isaac was also instrumental in the establishment of the British Book Trade Index. Early seminars were by invitation only, but in recent years the conference has expanded to become the place to debate provincial book trade history. Intellectual rigour is matched by a friendly atmosphere, welcoming to postgraduates and independent scholars as well as practitioners of the book trade and academics. As current convenor, I welcome you to the Print Networks family; please register to join our mailing list and I hope to see you at our annual conferences in the near future.
